To get involved is easy. On our team it costs $55 a year for dues. Plus $5 for probationary members. That covers national, regional, and team dues. If you don't have them, the uniform and leather goods will cost some money, and you can spend between $400 and $1500 dollars on a musket. BUT DON'T PANIC!! The first year you are welcome to use whatever we have extra. And we have enough to make it easy for someone to get started.
You'll start off as a "Probationary Member". Which basically means you don't have voting privileges. You will remain a probationary member for the period of three attended skirmishes, after which the team will vote on Full Member status.
Regionally there are about six shoots a year, the schedule usually is similar to this…Saturday mornings are when individual targets are shot (you get to shoot at paper targets, top scores win medals), Saturday afternoon carbine competition takes place. The main event is the musket competition Sunday morning, complete with opening ceremonies.
The Nationals are held twice a year in Winchester, VA. The spring nationals are held the 3rd weekend in May, The fall nationals are the first weekend in October. Ft Shenendoah in Virginia is a great place to purchase things if you need to. Regarding the schedule, we don't care if you want to shoot once a year or eight times a year. Our main focus is to have fun.
